Oppsirk is coming to Nor Shipping
Oppsirk consortium is coming to Nor Shipping in June. We look forward to show and share our experience and plan to provide the building industry with up cycled steel, a new profitable model for yards to decommission and deliver a large and reliable source of steel to the EU.
Europe needs more reliable sources to steel. Ship owners registered within EU hold on to a gigantic steel bank, worth billions. Today’s practice is to send old ships to Turkish or Asian yards. With that practice we send steel we need our selves out of Europe.
With a lot of old ships and new regulations the ship owners are planning to send hundreds of ships to decommission in the next five years, and maybe half the world fleet needs to be replaced within fifteen years. It is not capacity today to handle the need of decommission within EU. Regulators have not given ship owners or ship yards incentives to de decommission within EU. To handle the demand, and provide EU with steel we must increase our capacity.
Oppsirk and Nordic Circles are planing to make it sustainable to keep the steel in Europe. By up cycling a large precent of the steel into new steel products we change the game, and makes it lucrative for ship owners and yards to de decommission within EU. All we need is more ships and yards to scale our idea.
Nor-shipping, 2 - 6 June. Norway. Visitors: 50.000 from global shipping and maritime industry.
Our message - Send the ships home. For the first time its economically sustainable for Norwegian and European yards to take on decommission projects of large ships
